Interview with Sadie McLaughlin
Sadie McLauglin was raised as a Christian and grew up on a pig, corn, and cow farm with her parents and five sisters. Growing up, religion was very important to her family, and they would walk to Wayland Baptist Church for services. Later, Mrs. McLauglin’s husband was a minister of the church. Mrs. McLauglin graduated from Louisa County Training School in 1952. After graduation, she attended Virginia State College in Petersburg, Virginia, where she trained to become a teacher and returned to Louisa after graduation. Mrs. McLaughlin taught before, during, and after the integration of Louisa County schools.
