Interview with Elizabeth Quarles

Cultural Narrative: 

This interview focuses on the interviewee’s experiences in Louisa County during the 1950s with her family. Elizabeth Quarles’ family was living with their grandparents in 1950. They moved into their new house when Mrs. Quarles was twelve in 1952. Her father built their home near her grandparents with the help of some of his associates. Mrs. Quarles’ summers consisted of housework and working in the fields and garden. Her father worked at a local sawmill and grew tobacco as a means of getting income during the winter months.
