Interview with John Thurston

Cultural Narrative: 

John Thurston was born in 1931 and was raised by his parents - Stanley and Elizabeth Thurston - along with nine siblings. He attended Peach Grove School and the Louisa Training School, before majoring in industrial education at Saint Paul’s College. He fought in the Korean War and worked in the construction industry. He was a teacher at various schools in Louisa County for 18 years. He reflects on segregation in Louisa County, as well as what it was like to work as a teacher after integration.
